New trance track!

Excited to announce that my collaboration with talented DJ Showave is out now on Essentializm/RazNitzanMusic! It is always so much fun to work with Raz and I’m super proud of this song. Everyone who knows me knows I lost someone I love, and a big part of this song is about him being gone too soon. But it’s also about the feeling you get when you’re newly in love with someone, that you just… Read more →

Quiet but exciting

It’s been a great summer, filled with sunshine, vacation, seeing friends and family, playing guitar, writing some songs, enjoying life. And now back to the grind! Stay tuned, fun things are coming up! Read more →

De beste singer-songwriter van Utrecht

I am so excited to finally be able to announce that I’m in the running for the best singer-songwriter in Utrecht, wow! There are three pre-rounds with four singer-songwriters in each. The winners of each round make it to the finale, along with a wildcard picked by the public. I’ll be featured in the second pre-round, Thursday 7 April, 20u, at Cafe Hofman in Utrecht, playing with my dear friend and frequent cowriter David… Read more →

Featured in national magazine ‘Margriet’

I’m one of three power women featured in this week’s issue of the Margriet, one of the Netherlands’ largest weekly magazines for women. The article is titled “Doorzetters”, which translates as those who persevere and don’t give up. The text at the top of my page translates as, “I often thought ‘I don’t want this’, but I never thought ‘I can’t do this’”. That is a pretty good description of how I feel! Thanks… Read more →

‘Believe in You’ – Release

Once upon a time I had an email from a guy named Raz, saying he had a record company, liked my voice and wanted to work together. Flash forward months later to us being fast friends and the approaching release of the song we wrote the melody and lyrics to, produced by Canadian duo Somna & Yang: ‘Believe in You’. Can’t wait!   Here’s the preview! Read more →

On Universe Radio

I had a great time doing a one-hour interview on the program Showcase! on Universe Radio. I got to play five songs live with my band (David de Geus on keys, Paul Kessels on guitar and Judith van Dillen on backing vocals), answer some questions about me and my music, and bring three songs that inspire me. If you’re curious about how we sounded, what I said, or what songs I picked, check out… Read more →

The voice of Holland: I did it

My The voice of Holland adventure has come to an end, and all I can say is: I did it! Those darned four chairs did not turn around for me, but I am still so proud of myself and how far I got. Before even getting to the blind audition, there are so many audition rounds and hurdles to jump over. I set out to do it for one reason: to do it. I… Read more →

Melynda’s Music in the voice of Holland

Big news! I have been watching The voice of Holland ever since it first aired. I’d sit there feeling the candidates’ adrenalin as my own and wonder how I would feel if I stood on that stage. I’d wonder if I’d ever even make it that far, knowing that there are thousands who audition each season. I am extremely proud to announce that you can watch my blind audition in the Netherlands THIS FRIDAY… Read more →

‘Nothing’ – official music video, out now

I’m proud to say I’ve released my first official music video, for the song ‘Nothing’! It was made by the talented Claudia Rison, and I think she did a great job telling the story I wanted to tell. It’s about the contrast in my life between being on stage and feeling happy and fulfilled, with being the W-word (widow) and feeling empty and alone. This song is so special to me because it’s about… Read more →
